Space-Efficient Solutions for Industry
Today’s industry is characterized by a fast pace and the need to quickly reconfigure production with, for example, new workstations. Furthermore, it must be efficient, clean, and quiet.
Our solutions for industry
Conveyor solutions for modern industry that embraces lean principles must be flexible, easy to maintain, and able to communicate with machines such as robots, screwdrivers, and supervisory process systems. Conveyor systems should also be modular to enable rapid expansion or modification with minimal disruption to daily production.
The solutions must also be clean and quiet to meet both technical and human requirements and needs. With OCS’s patented solution for overhead conveyors – based on friction instead of space-consuming and inflexible chain or the more expensive EMS Electrified Monorail System – all requirements for smooth, quiet, and clean transport are met.

Why overhead conveyors?
Overhead conveyors are one of the most cost-effective ways to optimise internal flows. By placing the conveyor track above the work area, you create free floor space, improved ergonomics and clearer workstations.
The friction-based technology eliminates the need for chains and oil, resulting in quieter operation, reduced maintenance and lower energy consumption.
For companies that require fast changeovers or frequently rebuild their lines, overhead conveyors are the obvious choice—they are modular, scalable and easy to adapt to new products or increased volumes.

Application Areas
in Other Industries

Internal Transport System for Refrigerator Doors
Loading, transport, Power & Free buffering for output to final assembly line for refrigerators.

Production Line for Chairs
Order-controlled production setup for manufacturing recliners. Multiple integrated OCS systems throughout the entire production process. Foam, buffering, stamping, sewing, upholstery, assembly, and packing. The end customer’s production has been significantly streamlined by minimizing material transport and ensuring all materials follow through the entire assembly process.

Production Line for Safety Shoes
Fully automated system for manufacturing safety shoes. Batches with lasts placed on a specially designed product carrier that is automatically transported between different workstations. Assembly takes place at each workstation, and finally the complete shoe including last is lifted off and the empty carrier returns to order start.

Production Line for Sofas
Integrated OCS systems throughout the entire production chain. From sewing to upholstery/assembly and finally packing. By implementing the OCS system, the lead time for producing a sofa has been reduced from 17 days to 1 day!

Assembly Line for Hot Tubs
Combined powered and manual system for production of hot tubs. Using the unique product carriers, the operator can raise/lower, rotate, and tilt the hot tub to achieve an ergonomic environment during assembly. All handling is therefore safe and controlled, and the risk of quality issues during handling is minimized. The end customer increased production by 100% through implementation of the system.

Production Line for Bed Covers
A combined manual and automatic system where operators place material at order start on the product carrier. The carriers are automatically transported to an available workstation where sewing and assembly take place. Then on to an automatic buffer on top of a mezzanine system and finally delivery down to packing.

Production Line and JIT Buffer for Mattresses
Complete fully automated system for production of latex mattresses. Here the advantages of having mattresses suspended and utilizing the space up to the ceiling instead of being transported horizontally are evident. Mattresses are automatically loaded and unloaded at special stations. The systems are installed in two factory buildings as well as in trailers for transport from production to storage. Specially designed loops sort mattress types into batches before further transport to unloading onto pallets.

Production Line for Picture Frames
Raw materials such as frames, glass, cardboard, and paper are placed in OCS product carriers and then transported with the OCS Heavy Duty system to unloading stations. A robot picks raw materials from the OCS product carrier and places them on a belt conveyor where final assembly takes place.

Production Line for TV Screens
Fully automated system for handling, buffering, burn-in testing, and finally visual inspection of displays for flat screens. The product carrier is powered with a power rail and contains a PC with software that controls the display’s function, pixels, resolution, etc. Handling the display suspended compared to traditional pallets takes significantly less space and provides the operator with access to free floor areas.

Order Picking and Assembly Line for Motors and Control Boxes
Complete system for picking, transport, buffering, and assembly of motors and control boxes for garage doors. In a central warehouse, all parts are picked and placed in a specially designed product carrier that is also used as an assembly table. After picking, the carriers are collected in a buffer before further transport to an available assembly station. During assembly, the operator has all materials collected in the product carrier and focuses entirely on correct assembly. All materials are in the carrier, so no other materials need to be present at the stations. After assembly, the carrier continues for testing and is finally lifted off for packing.

OCS Heavy Duty System for Event Entertainment
The OCS Heavy Duty system is built in sections to enable easy assembly at different performances. The system has been used, among other things, to transport artists on trapezes during performances in Switzerland.

Internal Transport System for Stair Components
Portal robot that picks parts for stairs and places them on a transfer carrier which in turn transports the bundle to floor conveyors. An additional portal robot picks the bundle and places it on an overhead conveyor that transports it further to rough grinding and milling machines. The installation demonstrates an outstanding combination of overhead and floor-based conveyors in production.

Assembly Line for Lawn Mowers
Complete assembly line for lawn mowers. Three separate floor conveyors where complete construction of lawn mowers takes place, finally arriving at the packing zone.

Production Line for Packaging Materials
Packaging materials for food are collected in bundles and placed in the product carrier. In the production environment, pallets are not permitted for hygiene reasons. The OCS carrier is transported to an adjacent room where a pallet is placed underneath and finally the bundles of packaging materials are pushed onto the pallet, which is transported further on a floor conveyor.

OCS Heavy Duty Assembly Line for Textile Machines
An automated system with advanced product carriers that transport textile machines through multiple assembly stations, functional testing, and finally unloading onto pallets. The product carrier handles a load weight of up to 850 kg and is height-adjustable.

Art Display Machine
OCS has delivered an art display machine to Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
Moderna Museet, like all other museums, has a need for art to be accessible and easy to present. Many works are stored in archives and the art must be retrieved and hung in connection with special exhibitions.
In the display storage, visitors can request artworks using a specially designed machine that transports the artworks to the visitor. The space also accommodates a number of research stations. The display storage also functions as a platform for the research projects that Moderna Museet conducts on exhibitions, individual artists, and other research fields.

Internal Transport System for Bakery Process
A system for transport and buffering of rack carts containing 32 trays with bread/rolls. The process starts at an automatic loading station, then through the proofing process. The rack cart is lifted off the OCS carrier and the products are baked in an oven, then hung back on the OCS carrier. Then transport through cooling and freezing tunnels and ends with automatic unloading for further transport to packing. An overhead transport system has created free floor areas and hygiene is exemplary as all cleaning is much easier.

Assembly Line for Ride-On Lawn Mowers
Complete assembly line for ride-on lawn mowers. There are 32 stations where operators assemble the ride-on lawn mowers from the chassis frame to the finished product. The system has continuous advancement and using the unique product carriers, the operator can raise, lower, and rotate the product to achieve an ergonomic environment during assembly. At the unloading station, the ride-on lawn mower is placed on a belt conveyor and transported through a test room where all functions are tested (start, stop, brake, etc.). After testing, the ride-on lawn mower passes a quality control where repairs can be made before arriving at the packing station.

Sewing Lines
OCS has delivered multiple systems for sewing processes, ranging from carriers that handle textiles individually or in batches. For example, in a furniture factory, all materials are transported and buffered through cutting, sewing, and finally to assembly. The product carriers are lifted off the OCS carrier and transported manually within the process to later be hung back on the OCS carrier.
